British-style Afternoon Tea
by Maureen Dhruva
The Afternoon Tea was a real treat for everyone. Thanks to Mei Huey (Taiwan) who took the wonderful pictures (below).
It was a perfect day in a perfect house for the Afternoon Tea Party. A BIG THANK YOU to the SUPER Hostess, Maureen Dhruva, and Maureen's helper Maria.
Everyone enjoyed visiting each other and sharing their tea traditions. The Afghani sisters enjoyed the tea and sandwiches - it was good to see them networking.
The tea sandwiches were delicately cut into small bite pieces, desserts and the tea served in silver teapots (it was a privilege for Emma to pour tea for the 1st round). The Silver teapots were quite heavy if you are not used to them.
Everything was beautiful, Annamarie and Maureen did a great job with the set up of centerpieces of fresh flowers in teapots, linen napkins, and china cups and saucers for everyone.
Thanks to the following:
Jean and Danielle for receiving guests and counting money.
Danielle, Maureen, Linda, and Emma...they were DELICIOUS!
Scones (Mary Edmunson) topped with cream and Linda's homemade jam , Jean's chocolate cake with fresh strawberries, Annemarie's marzipan topped with fresh violets, and other wonderful desserts brought by Nina and Aura, members and guests.
Earl Grey and English Tea were served in Silver Tea Pots and were just splendid! And yes of course those special sugar cubes that looks like gift boxes! It was nice to see everyone treated themselves to a relaxing afternoon. Thanks to Inge for helping pour the tea!
The proceeds for the event will be donated to the Afghan Women's Fund.
Thank you again Maureen for sharing your lovely home!
